One major reason why people associate with in justifying the abuse of steroids is that they want to improve athletic performance in whole. Among many athletes, steroid abuse is being estimated to hold less or close to 6 percent from the statistics of the conducted surveys, but from the anecdotal information there is evidence of more widespread in the abuse of steroids than it is thought to be. Testing procedures for now are in put in place in the attempt of deterring steroid abuse mostly for the professionals and the associated Olympic athletes.
It is now clear that new forms of designer drugs are constantly becoming available and they hold the capability of escaping detection making the athletes purpose to cheat in the process of their testing efforts. This however, may sooner be shifting if at all the blood and urine samples saving are anything to go about for future date retesting. The probability of the entire eventual detection for the newer steroids, when this technology finally becomes available, and the fear in retroactive sanctions, finally should give an ultimate pause to the athletes.
Another major reason to people giving in to steroids abuse is to mainly increasing their entire muscle size or on the attempt to reduce the body fat. This is the group including people who suffer from what may appear as the behavioral syndrome and it is called the muscle dysmorphia. It entirely causes in them the distortion of the image in their whole body. Men who happen to suffer muscle dysmorphia always think that to others they look very small and also weak, even if they know that they are large, muscular and strong. Similarly, for women who have such a condition they only think of them being flabby and fat, even when in reality they happen to be muscular and lean.
People, who continue abusing steroids, do it in attention of boosting their muscle size all because they have ever had an experience of sexual or physical abuse. In a series of strategic interviews involving male weightlifters, there were 25 percent of them who abused different types of steroids and they were said to have once experienced physical abuse on their childhood. Similarly, the female weightlifters were associated with ever having being raped and to them it was the major reason that made them abuse steroids or other muscle building kind of drug to un prescribed level. This was all done in comparison to the population that never experienced such humiliating experiences and it was how the ratios were arrived at.
Moreover, all sexes tended to increase their routines after the horrifying experiences either out of regrets or in readiness of fighting back because of the anger that perpetuated inside them. To them they developed a misconception that being stronger and bigger would be a weapon in discouraging further attacks from people who had intimidated them. To girls they thought that they would look unattractive to men and left alone to live their own lives.
Finally, some of the adolescents were said to have abused steroids mainly as a pattern of the high-risk form of behaviors. The adolescents tended to take risks like drinking and still engage in driving, not using helmets when on motorbikes and also used to carry guns, they also were the great number of illicit drugs abusers.
