As you may well know, insulin is serious business. People who use it are manipulating their body in ways they may not be able to understand. Too few carbs, and instant death can occur. Pre-existing kidney or other ailment, and sudden death can occur. It’s a dangerous compound for those who are not experts in the area. However, it is also a highly useful compound which allows bodybuilders to grow to new sizes never before thought possible. Properly employed, it delivers aminos to cells faster, which leads to more, and faster, growth.
As a reaction to the dangers of insulin, researchers in the medical community have been working hard to deliver a drug which can provide many of the benefits of insulin, without the serious risks.
You might ask, how does this affect me? If you’re diabetic, it certainly affects you. If you are a bodybuilder who uses insulin and/or Metformin, you could be affected by this news as well. Maybe you’re a bodybuilder who doesn’t use insulin. It still potentially affects you. If you plan on spending the next 30 years of your life eating six meals per day and carrying 60 more pounds of muscle than nature intended for your body, there is higher than normal chance you may flirt with diabetes in your later years.
PPARs, or Peroxisome Proliferator-Activated Receptors is a new chemical class which appears to be successful for treating insulin irregularities in patients with diabetes. These drugs are being developed by drug giants, and will be on the market in the coming years. In the meantime, write down their name and save it someplace safe for a rainy day. If you are ready to add insulin to your stack in the future, do a little bit of research on PPARs, and see what available options you might have as a bodybuilder. As the world of competitive bodybuilding learns more about the positives and negatives and other intricacies of insulin use, its use will increase. This will spurn an increase in alternatives such as PPARs. Or, if you or a family member develops diabetes or pre-diabetic symptoms, check into them. Type-II diabetes, in its early stages, can be reversible through the use of medication, exercise, and diet adjustments.
Above all, as a bodybuilder focused upon improving not only your physique but the quality of your life as well, you owe it to yourself to become educated on the symptoms of diabetes. Do you have a family history of diabetes? Do you have a spare tire, or an abundance of abdominal fat? This may not be a problem for the competitive bodybuilder, but for the powerlifter or the perpetual bulker, it might be a reality. Do you indulge in too many carbohydrates, particularly sweets? Finally, do you partake in regular cardiovascular exercise? Cardio is not only good for maintaining low body fat. It’s also essential for healthy heart function, and to stave off occurrences of diabetes. Take care of yourself, and check out more information on the subject if you believe you might be at risk.
