The term testosterone, or “T”, is commonly tossed around locker rooms and message boards. However, many bodybuilders – even those who regularly use anabolic steroids – do not know much about the variations of testosterone available. Let’s check out some of the common ones so that you may develop a baseline of knowledge on this topic. Use the information found here as a starting point for selecting which testosterone product is best for you!
Dihydrotestosterone
This version of T is not toxic to the liver. Administrered transdermally or via injection, Dihydrotestosterone is used to treat cases of gynecomastia. This version of T cannot be converted to estrogen, and it used primarily in medical circles for restoring distorted T levels.
Fluoxymestone
Better known as halotestin, this popular oral steroid is highly toxic, yet highly effective for muscle building.
Mesterolone
Sold as Androviron, this useful T supplementation does not damage the liver, cause gynecomastia, or disrupt the endocrine system to a great degree.
Methandrostenolone
Also known as Dianabol, this orally administered, highly potent steroid has been around for decades. Since the mid 1990s, Dianabol production has dropped worldwide due to studies done upon its negative effects on the liver. Much of the Dianabol you find overseas is fake.
Methenolone
Better known as Primobolan, this highly effective testosterone ester builds muscle while preserving liver function.
Nandrolone decanoate
Deca-Durabolin is a testosterone ester with a very long half-life. It’s safe on the liver, injectable, and used by just about every pro bodybuilding you see in magazines today.
Oxandrolone
Fashionably known as Anavar, Oxandrolone is very toxic to the liver when taken orally. It’s used by female bodybuilders, due to its short half-life. However, it does cause severe masculinization when used in the long term.
Oxymethlone
Anadrol-50 is a powerhouse in a world of powerhouse steroids. It’s toxic to the liver, but a highly popular and effective first cycle drug.
Stanozolol
You’ve certainly heard of Winstrol before. Everyone from the great Arnold to the very busted Olympic track and field stars of the 80s and 90s were very familiar with Stanozolol. It is popular with men and women alike, and is terrific for adding muscle mass and strength in athletes.
Testosterone cyclohexanecarboxylate
Used in this two-week intervals thanks to it being the T ester that survives the longest in the body, this compound is commonly injected into the glutes and shoulders and provides good gains for most users.
Testosterone cypionate
Sold as depo-testosterone, this is the remarkably similar and more commonly available version of Testosterone cyclohexanecarboxylate.
Testosterone propionate
“T-Prop”, or Testex, is liver-friendly and very effective for fat loss and to a lesser extent, muscle gain. It has a short half life and needs to be administered every 2 to 3 days.
Testosterone Undecanoate
If you can locate this, get it! It’s administered orally and does not damage the liver. It’s a steroid user’s dream. Used commonly by men in their 50s and 60s seeking a T-level boost, this drug isn’t all that powerful and needs to be used in large doses to be effective.
