Testosterone is the king of everything we do in the world of chemical bodybuilding. You’ll always have those 185 pound ‘Wunderkind’ bodybuilders that look sensational and ripped at natural shows, but we all know they’d look like broomsticks on an IFBB Pro stage. If you want to stand among the top guys in the world at over 220 pounds, you’re going to have to use artificial testosterone. It’s unfortunate, but it’s the reality of the sport. If you are going to pursue a future in professional bodybuilding, you have to be sure you do it correctly. Jumping in at 180 pounds to a cycle of 1500 mg per week on your first cycle is going to lock you into a lifetime of being trapped at 200 pounds despite taking every drug under the sun. It is those bodybuilders who use very small cycles with intelligent breaks that end up making the most consistent long-term gains. Remember – it is the gains you make in your 5th and 7th years that determine how far you can go in this sport.

Start small

Your first cycle should be very small. If you want to try using two injections of 75 mg per week for a grand total of 150 mg per week, you should go for it. You’ll already be eclipsing your natural testosterone levels of 20 to 35 mg per week, and you’ll be allowing for growth with the least possible amount of testosterone. Ever cycle after this one will need to be heavier, so starting as small as possible is your best bet.

Step up with each cycle

Cycle number two needs to be equal to cycle number one, plus 100 to 200 mg of testosterone. Each cycle after that will be 100 to 200 mg heavier in the testosterone department, until you reach 1000 or 1200 mg and have to begin adding other compounds.

Rotate esters

Some testosterones work fast, spiking your bloodstream in 3 or 4 days. Others take up to two weeks to reach peak blood levels. Still others, such as the combination esters like Sustanon, combine multiple testosterones that release at different points in the timeline. This is ideal for ensuring your blood has a continually elevated level of T, and not just a spike here or there. Some guys also get caught in the habit of using the same testosterone variant every time. This is a mistake. While it is a good idea to use the same supplier or manufacturer every time (once you find one that you know works), it is imperative that you mix up the release dates to keep your muscle receptors off-guard. Additionally, continual injections at a point of every 3 to 4 days will lead to higher blood concentration levels that may cancel out any of these spikes and drops seen with single ester injections.

Avoid test suspension

One final note cannot be ignored. Unless you are competing in a tested competition, avoid the water-based testosterone suspension. Shots are painful and the testosterone only lasts in your bloodstream for less than three days. Stick with slower-burning oils!
