Using steroids isn’t easy. You’re faced with a myriad of potential health, legal, financial, and social woes. Should you be caught illegally purchasing or even possessing steroids, you could lose your job, home, friends, and even your freedom over nothing more than a desire to improve your physical appearance and performance, and willingness to break some laws to do it. These problems are known to all, as are the potential issues with damage to the body to which steroids can lead. Once you wade past all of these potential pitfalls and actually get your hands on the steroids, you may encounter another problem you never saw coming: Injection pain.

It can be a very painful experience to plunge a wide gauge needle into your body and inject oil into your muscles. Some of the biggest guys in the weight room have been secretly brought to tears in the privacy of their home bathroom by painful shoots. Occasionally, you’ll nick a vein, sending blood spurting all over the place at a high pressure. Or, you might develop an abscess, a result of bacteria infection. And let’s not forget the pain that comes with scar tissue injections, where your needle must go through an area still healing from the last injection. And, if you’re the occasional bodybuilder who will see his own blood and faint, you might wake up 15 minutes later with a needle still in your rump and a bump on your head, lying on the bathroom floor! Using needles to administer your steroids is much easier on your system than oral AAS can be, but the use of needles can make it much tougher. But there are some steps you can take to make the injections hurt less.

Some bodybuilders believe that shorter-ester compounds are the answer to injection pain. Adding benzyl benzoate to your oil will lessen precipitation in the vial, while means the oil you’re injecting will enter the body much smoother, causing a lot less pain. Other bodybuilders will dilute the compound being injected with either sesame seed or cotton seed, increasing the overall injection volume but making the compound much more neutral to pain receptors in the body. Other bodybuilders, eager to just ‘get it over with’, will use less oil and more of the steroid itself, and just shoot a very fast, hot load into their muscles. The lesser volume makes the shot faster and easier for them. The option you prefer will vary.

Aside from what’s in the needle itself, you can also help to reduce the total amount of pain you experience with each shoot by using several smaller injections at several different places on your body. Instead of a large payload in your thigh, perhaps four tiny shots in your butt, deltoids, triceps, and thigh would hurt much less. It may even deliver some added effectiveness, as the oil will find receptors faster in more different places in the body. Whatever option you choose, you should continually vary your injection factors in order to find the combination that works best to deliver the steroids to your body with the least amount of associated pain!
