Expiration DateQ:  I’ve acquired some gear ahead of time, because of prices and availability. But I’m a ways off from my first cycle and have been getting things together training wise to work up to what I want to be doing when the time comes to use it. I had a big lay-off from an injury and just don’t see it as an advantage to waste the gear if I’m not where I need to be. I noticed the other day though, that my Deca and one other drug are set to expire. If they are sealed and untampered with, is that going to affect how well I do on them?

A: Good question, and one that we don’t see talked about often. If the “other” drug you mention is an oral, they should be good for a few years after the date, though the manufacturer cannot portray this by law. Don’t get rid of those though… the worst that can happen is that you are getting a little weaker product. Throwing them out would mean you are throwing what will, in worst case, be 85% of what it once was, and typically, won’t even lose that much potency. But keep in mind that even pelleted anti-moisture preparations for orals can dehydrate tabs. Vialed drugs are a bit more volatile even still, however, though they can still be hearty as well. They can go past the date but you need to understand that you may have more of a problem with potency with injectables because they are in clear glass and not stored in a dark place throughout their life (something you wouldn’t know because you haven’t been with that vial throughout its whole life span).  One word of caution:  If drugs you purchase end up expiring, that’s one thing. But don’t knowingly buy expired drugs from “friends” no matter how well you know them. They may be “unloading” because it made them sick or gave them an abscess. You typically get what you pay for.
