A huge masculine body with developed muscles is the in thing today in the male world. Most males will go to any length to build well toned biceps and a six pack. In the contemporary world, well built bodies are an asset. The problem however results from seeking this desired end using shortcuts of both time and effort. It is a fact that synthetic hormones assist in developing muscles quickly and also makes the muscles look appealing in the process.
It takes only a few consistent prescriptions with regular exercises to build muscles that would otherwise take a long time and effort without steroids. Further more, body building requires a certain level of discipline that most males don’t have.
These pharmaceutical substances commonly referred to as anabolic-androgenic steroids (AAS) are synthetic hormones closely affiliated with the natural male sex hormones like testosterone. The abuse of these industrially produced chemicals to increase male sexual physical characteristics is a precarious trend especially in body building. Steroids are legally prescribed in most pharmacies as a treatment to health conditions that result primarily from deficiency of natural hormones such as delayed puberty or to replace lean muscles caused by terminal body decapitating diseases like cancer and AIDS.
Most athletes and non-athletes alike, consciously abuse steroids to enhance their physical performance or to dramatically improve their physical appearances. Taken in oral doses or as injections, the many types of synthetic substances available become a routine intake during exercises and practice sessions.
Medical research has however consistently proved that although steroids help in building an amazing body, they eventually cause more harm than good. Put simply, steroids build body mass as they concurrently harm that same body. They are a luring devil that though desirable, isn’t necessary. Continued use of steroids lowers the male sperm count and therefore makes child bearing a futile exercise. They also make men to adopt an unnatural aggressive altitude.
Worse still, steroids cause the body to become sterile. Research has proved that steroids make the body’s anabolic environment unconducive to serious muscle building efforts.
Successful muscle building results from natural methods not synthetic shortcut methods. Steroids are the easy ways out that terminally decimate body health for moments of glory. Despite their lure steroids should be kept at bay because they bring with them serious health problems that outweigh any tangible benefits in the long term. Steroids are addictive. They not only endanger body health, but also endanger the very muscles they help build. Continued use of synthetic hormones leads to addiction because the body learns to expect enhancement at particular times.
It is therefore prudent to insist that with their long-ranging negative implications, steroid use overwhelmingly outweighs any short time benefits. Athletes and general bodybuilders should learn to focus on methods of natural bodybuilding not the lure of developing muscles using steroids. This would not only make such an athlete a healthier person, but also one who appreciates his achievement in building a beautiful masculine body without the shortcuts offered in synthetic prescriptions.
