When testosterone is ingested, the first organ to start working on it is the liver. It may have been introduced into the body through oral administration or through injection. Once the liver has worked on it, very few androgenic effects would be seen at first. This means they will work on it just like all the other metabolites that have ever passed through this organ before. It should be clear to the reader that testosterone can be introduced into the body when it is in various forms, one of which is the alkylated form. This form is much more resistance to the metabolic functions of the heart. This means trouble for the bodybuilder because it can be a clinical case due to the complications. On the other hand, the T-form is stronger than the alkylated form. This means the clinical complications are further worsened.

These complications result from the inefficient rate of breakdown while the bodybuilder is in dire need of supply of food substances. The partly broken-down substances find it difficult leaving the heart because the heart mechanism does not allow passage of partly broken-down metabolites or their products to leave the liver.

This means that the bodybuilder should expect differing results according to the type of the testosterone ingested. With orally administered androgens, toxicity of the liver has been observed to be higher compared to that of injections. The effects are mainly raising the level of the liver enzymes to cope with the slow process of substance breakdown and formation of liver cysts which may be hemorrhagic in some cases. Neo-plasms have also been observed in 80 per cent of the people who use oral administration to introduce androgens into their bodies as a therapeutic measure.

For those bodybuilders who may be getting too much by now, there is the testosterone esters which can be said to be relatively resistance to enzymic breakdown. Their mode of extraction is slightly different from that of the other two which have been previously discussed. It involves the hydrolysis process which leads to production of the purest form of testosterone. The disadvantage with this form is that it is difficult to get a sustained supply and the little that is available is extremely expensive. It is interesting to note that the effects of this form are completely indistinguishable from those of the naturally occurring form itself.

In ordinary circumstances, physicians advise bodybuilders to take a single dosage of about 100mg every week. The dosage may be extended to cover wider swings which means that the same dosage is administered in a way that it will be continued for a longer periods, for example 300mg every three weeks. When the testosterone is injected, the changes come swiftly and soon enough. For example, the serum T changes to a level known as High Normal. The bodybuilder will by now have started having the feeling of an inner strength that slightly goes beyond the normal range. This, however, is a momentary feeling which is bound to plummet in the course of the week, in the build up to the next week’s dose.
