Is 200 mg weekly enough?
If you’ve researched common steroid dosing cycles, you probably already know that the average recommended starting cycle is 400 to 600 mg per week of your chosen testosterone ester or variant. In real life, given larger body weights and the fact that much of what is purchased underground is often of lesser quality than one would desire, you may end up with a cycle a bit stronger than the 400 to 600 mg per week recommended in steroid literature. This is acceptable, just so long as the increase is measured, the results are analyzed, and you don’t enter dangerous territory in terms of side effects. In other words, employ common sense and keep your safety as your top priority.
At the same time, there is the potential for making very solid gains with far less than the recommended 400 to 600 mg per week of your chosen testosterone. Many men in their thirties will suddenly find their testosterone levels lagging, and will consult a physician. When they do, they will either be given the testosterone patch or perhaps gel, solutions which can help boost levels without requiring the use of needles. If and when these options don’t deliver the solution desired, the bodybuilder may be moved up to a small dose of 200 mg of testosterone per week. For many lifters, this is the promised land!
This level of dosage offers some unique possibilities. Since your body’s natural T production levels are probably currently around 40 mg per week, a dosage of 200 mg is going to be quite the meaningful improvement. However, since the dosage is far below the 400 to 600 used by bodybuilders that deliver some side effects, most side effects – including acne, Gynecomastia, and hair recession – may be avoided!
A moderate solution for hard-working bodybuilders in their 30s might be a simple run of 200 mg per week – indefinitely. Initially, such a dose will seem a like a major kick in the pants for a person suffering from low T levels. Over time, this level will feel “normal”. If you wish to make gains in the future beyond what you are seeing at 200 mg, it will be possible to run small cycles where the dosage will be increased for up to 10 or 12 weeks. The use of 400 or 500 mg per week will still be a meaningful bump over existing dosages, so some gains will be found. However, when you complete the cycle and return to your artificial levels of 200 mg per week, you will experience no drop-off. This also means no post-cycle therapy (PCT) drugs will be needed.
One concern with running testosterone indefinitely is that you may not be able to pro-create. Your sperm count will never return to normal levels, as there will never be any incentive for your pituitary gland to issue the command to the testes to begin function. If you are planning a family, permanent HRT dosage of 200 mg per week of testosterone will not be in your best interest.
