The law of averages is very much alive and real in the medical world. For every man born with abnormally high levels of testosterone, there is certainly at least one many born with abnormally low levels. Testosterone supplementation can help to provide this unlucky chap with levels on par with his peers. If you think you might be a good candidate for testosterone supplementation, read further!
Symptoms of low testosterone
Many men initially notice their testosterone levels are dropping when their sexual performance begins to suffer. Weaker erections, a lack of interest in sex, or an inability to finish the act can all be signs of low testosterone. Additionally, their performance in the gym or on the field will begin to suffer. Their energy levels drop, they feel lethargic and weak, they may feel sleepy or sluggish, and their overall quality of life may seem to be less. This begins happening in the late twenties and intensifies as the man heads toward age forty.
Results of low testosterone
Men suffering from low testosterone have a reduced quality of life. The frustration and anxiety caused by low T-levels can lead to heart attacks in males. The estrogen overflow (resulting from E-levels remaining elevated as T-levels plummet) can result in Gynecomastia and other embarrassing side effects. Loss of height, bone, and muscle mass can also occur.
Causes of low testosterone
Many men are born with sub-par testosterone levels. Far more influence their levels through their own behavior or habits. Poor exercise and diet can lead to lowered T-levels. Smoking, obesity, alcohol abuse, and prescription or over-the-counter drug abuse can also cause this to occur. Additionally, as one age, testosterone levels begin lowering naturally.
Treatment for low testosterone
Men who are suffering from low testosterone levels can consult with their doctor to learn more about hormone replacement therapy, or HRT. HRT used to be used solely among small groups of wealthy medical professionals aware of its powers. In the last fifteen year, however, the use of HRT has become cheaper and much more common.
All men suffer from drops in testosterone levels as they age. Many of the symptoms listed above will affect all men eventually. The age at which they occur is the most telling. If you discover you are suffering from these effects before many of you peers, consult your doctor. Even if you’re aging right on course, and you would prefer a higher quality of life, a consultation with your physician might be a good idea.
