Chemical Name: DNP (2,4-Dinitrophenol)

Traditional Use:

DNP is an industrial chemical, not an AAS, with a lot of applications in the consumer and industrial market. One of those is its use in the early 1900’s as a means to ignite dynamite. It is classified as an “uncoupler of Oxidative Phosphorylation”. That means it’s as dangerous as it gets because there are NO negative feedback systems to deal with overdoses and no limits established for overdose or other problems and side effects.

Oddly, DNP was popular back in the 1930’s when it was reported by a Stanford University study to be responsible for “amazing weight loss”, and found its way into a lot of potions and products that promised dramatic results for weight loss. DNP was eventually banned by the FDA due to some of its risks.

Bodybuilding Use:

It has gained a great deal of popularity in the past 4 years as a fat loss tool for bodybuilders trying to cut up for a competition. It promises an amazing 50% increase in metabolic rate because of the extreme elevation of body core temperature. It is able to burn between 10 and 12 pounds of body fat within 5-7 days. The popular ECA stack is only able to increase metabolic thermogenesis by 3%.

Side Effects:

DNP, unlike Clenbuterol and ephedrine, does not cause anorectic effects, but tends to increase hunger - particularly for carbohydrates. Appetite suppressants can handle this increase in hunger, and some use ECA for this purpose while on DNP. Because DNP accomplishes such an incredible boost (50%) in metabolic rate via inhibition of the F0F1 ATP synthase molecule found within the mitochondrion of each cell wall, what it is actually doing is virtually liquefying the heart of whatever that cell wall is. And fat is the logical target. But keep in mind that DNP was also a major component in insecticides, both commercial and consumer bug sprays. When a bug dies from being sprayed with this chemical, it is because its insides are being heated to the point of destruction. And while fat is the logical target within the human body for those who take DNP, it also destroys many other cells and can cause death. It is the riskiest way to lose weight short of cutting off limbs to eliminate weight. It can, like amputation, be final. But short of death, a lot of brain damage can occur.

Immediate Risks:

  • Overheating - Cooking from the inside out. Overdosing is easy.
  • Carcinogenesis - Cancer causing activity from the release and flood of free radicals.
  • Discomfort/ Sweating - It may be unbearable and actually can be felt by those around.
  • Insomnia - Whether from discomfort or from boosted metabolic activity, sleep can be a problem
  • Yellow Body Fluids - Urine, semen and vaginal secretions take on a yellow cast. Staining of sheets and toxic levels of chemical in sheets necessitate almost daily washing to avoid toxicity in breathing the DNP contained in sweat. This, in addition to the dose taken internally, can cause levels of DNP to reach toxic, lethal proportions.
  • Muscle Soreness - Low levels of ATP (engaged in the metabolic process of fat loss with DNP) causes muscle soreness and puts your at risk for injury and tearing
  • Allergic Reactions - From extreme to hives and blisters.
