The body develops in a balanced state and this is normal for every human being. But this is not the case when it comes to people who use steroids either for medical purposes or for bodybuilding and muscle development. There is a great significance in muscle development in the different body parts and how the steroids taken could affect the same process. With the knowledge of what is a steroid, it is important to understand how they work and at what intensity in the different body parts.
Steroids work to enable body composition and the improvements of strength within the body. A review which has spanned more than three decades in total, of experimental studies specifically in men found that, the human body weight may as well increase by range of 2-5 kg in the short term basis roughly ten weeks when engaging in the use of androgenic anabolic use, which may be generally attributed to a succeeding increase of the lean muscle mass. Animal studies conducted later on, also found that, the mass of fats was reduced drastically, but for many of the conducted studies, they found that in humans there are no significant decrements of the body’s fat mass.
The effects on the body mass have now been shown related and most dependent on the dose being used. Both the muscle hypertrophy and the subsequent formation of all new muscle fibers finally tend to be observed. The hydration of the lean muscle mass remains totally unaffected by the anabolic androgenic steroid use, though some small blood increments cannot be excluded or negated.
The entire upper region of the human body mainly composed of the thorax, shoulders, neck and the upper arm, seems to be the most susceptible for anabolic androgenic effects than any other body parts. This is mainly because; the androgen receptors predominance is usually in the upper part of the body. The largest and most significant difference in muscle size between anabolic androgenic steroid users and the non-users was also observed in the classified type I muscles of the trapezius muscle and vastus lateralis due to the long-term self-administration of the AAS. Sometime after withdrawing from the drug use, the effects happen to fade away in a slow pace, but they may continue for more than 6 weeks from the time of cessation of anabolic androgenic steroid use.
The review also observed some strength improvements in a specific range of 5-20% of the baseline strength, and this was largely depending on the type of drugs used and the dose adopted not forgetting the period used to administer them. In overall, in the cases where exercise gave significant improvements, they included much of bench presses. From that time on, there was a major misconception, where AAS were taken to exert significant effects only in experienced athletes. Steroids in general have a significant effect in the body and it serves positive especially if used in the right and appropriate manner. All what is required is self control and practicing healthy use of steroids.
