Q: I always hear talk of blood tests when it comes to AS cycles, but I don’t know which ones to tell my doctor to run. I hear that not all doctors really know what they’re looking for, so they don’t run as many of the tests as you might need. Is there a particular type that should be run on my blood before a cycle, during and after? Or just one after? A: Well, first of all, you’re right about doctors not knowing as much as some of the folks here in this industry. In fact, the truth is, general practitioners really only know a little something about everything. Often, they only get a semester of training on nutrition, if you can believe that. So, when it comes to anabolic steroids, they only know a very superficial amount of ...

Yes, you’re a bodybuilder. You eat like a horse. You work like a mule. You sleep like a baby. And you lie like a dog whenever anybody asks you about your blood work. You probably mutter the industry standard line, “Sure, I get my work done every 6 months, and I’m completely healthy! And you probably haven’t had your blood work done since you scraped your knee in the 3rd grade and the nurse gave you a band-aid. Let’s face it, if you’re in your 20s or 30s and using anabolic steroids, you’re probably feeling quite invincible. Health insurance may not be on your menu, and the prospect of finding some terrible disease may not be an exciting one. Better to live like a rock star in your gym, and live every minute like ...

Q: Why should you have blood tests in between cycles? If you are doing AAS anyway, what is a result going to tell you once the damage is done? A: Good question, though it tells me that you are new to the game. Still, everyone should understand why they are doing what they do. Blood tests give us a measuring stick of what’s going on in our bodies before, during and after an AAS cycle. Make SURE that you get a baseline blood test with all readings that establish a normal range for you when you are NOT on steroids. That means, ideally, before you ever start. We are chemically different people on a daily basis – no two days are the same. But at a point of normal and healthy, we should fall within a range that ...

Q: Okay, I want to get blood work done, but it's so expensive I don't know if I can afford 'roids and that! I heard from a friend that they do blood work online for a cheaper price. Who does it and how do I know what to ask for in terms of tests? A: Good questions and a great topic. Online labs doing blood work for a more economical price is a great way for people to come out of hiding or financial hardship and get the tests they need. Here are a few suggestions of online labs: http://www.privatemdlabs.com/index.php http://www.directlabs.com/testtypes...CFRkDWAodqTLQtw http://www.preventivelabs.com We're not sure if these are actually "cheaper" by much, but they are cheaper because you aren't paying for an office visit and don't get lectured when you receive your results. For some, that's a LOT cheaper! Direct ...

Everyone knows that getting your blood tested during, but particularly after, an AAS cycle is a smart move. But did you know that if you are a first time user, you should have what is called a "baseline" blood panel done first? A baseline means you are testing your normal ranges during a "pristine" phase - a phase where there have been no toxins to speak of introduced to the body for prolonged periods of time. If you are a drug user on a regular basis - marijuana, cocaine or other drugs - that may change things a bit. You won't get a normal reading of your average levels of any portion of the blood if that's the case. But let's assume that you're "clean" before starting a cycle of AAS. The reason a baseline is important is to establish a "normal" ...

Q: I just got my blood work done to test my liver enzymes and such, and they just called me and said everything was fine. But what is "Fine"? Don't I have a right to see them and go over them with my doctor? Getting the high sign is great, but it was pretty vague, too. A: You do, and it's fairly unprofessional to be that vague when it's an entire blood assay that's been performed (which we're assuming was done). Call your doctor back and set up a "follow up" appointment for his office only. Specify that it is to discuss results in-depth, as a follow up to a paid visit, and that you do not expect to have to pay for the doctor's explanation since it was a part of earlier services already compensated. If you don't specify ...

Many bodybuilding federations claim to be natural. However, the winners of the classes in these events tend to display levels of muscularity and conditioning not attainable without chemical assistance. While the debate over the ethics of a steroid user entering a natural competition merits its own article, we can agree that there are a wide variety of products and techniques available to ensure that an athlete using drugs is not caught when the drug test is given. Let’s learn more. To Pass The Test Typically you will be given a blood or urine screen for bodybuilding drugs. If you don’t know what type of test you’ll be facing, you’ll need to be prepared for all of them – blood, hair, ...
