Ever since the media delivered the stories of baseball’s top players using steroids to get bigger, stronger, and hit further than ever, collegiate and high school athletes have done their best to get hold of steroids to improve their performance as well. Online ordering has made it much simpler than in the past, when youths would have to ask an older sibling or “big guy in the gym” for ‘roid advice. They can conduct a Google search for their answers and place their orders online. Without much of the ingrained fear of jail that many older users possess, they are more likely to order. Given their oft-observed feelings of invincibility, it’s likely they aren’t going to be as cautious with dosing either.
How many of today’s youths actually have used steroids? That is impossible to determine. There have been numerous polls and surveys conducted, but their data may be corrupted. Obviously, many steroid users are going to deny it. Some youths will admit it to seem important to the person asking the questions. Or, the youth might not know what steroids are. If he ever tried a caffeine pill or used creatine for a week, he may claim to have experience with steroids. For these reasons, we cannot fathom a guess as to how many kids are willing to go online, order steroids, and use what arrives in the mail. However, we do know that it is happening. Let’s look at a few reasons why this is not a good thing!
Testosterone Levels
If you are between the ages of 13 and 19, your testosterone levels are going to be skyrocketed higher than they will be again at any point in your life. Adding some artificial testosterone to this mix is only going to help a small deal. The most you can hope to gain from running a cycle or two is going to be a few new pounds on the scale, or 20 or 30 more pounds on your compound lifts.
Acne
If you think your acne is bad now, wait until you see what a few more teaspoons of oil is going to do for your complexion once you start juicing. Plus, oral anti-acne solutions like Accutane aren’t going to be a safe option for fighting it. These drugs place a great deal of strain upon your liver, and can be very toxic when used in conjunction with oral steroids such as Anavar or Winstrol.
Legal
Are you looking forward to attending college in the coming years? If your internet order is tracked, you may just have to deal with law enforcement officers at your door with a warrant before long. Do you want to force your parents to pay for your legal defense, all while you are watching your college admittance disappear due to the felony you’ve committed? Don’t jump into steroids if you’re not willing to enter the legal system if the ball happens to bounce that way, as it often does.
Bone Growth
The reason many of today’s top bodybuilders are so short, and achieved success so early, is that steroids were used in their teenage years. Your long bone plates do not fuse until the age of 19 – unless you use steroids, which can fuse these bones much earlier.
