There is a great debate in understanding steroids and how they react within the body. This is why; steroids are bit controversial when it comes to rating their effects in an individual’s body. Some people think that steroids administered through injections are more harmful and brings in more side effects than the oral forms of steroids. But this is a mere assumption and should not be followed to form a base of steroid use.
The AAS androgenic effects are numerous. Processes affected as a result of steroid use, include sebaceous gland, pubertal growth, sexuality and oil production. There are others like problems of fetal development but they are not very common. There are examples of some virilization effects and they happen in both males and females. These include the enlargement of clitoris and in male children issues of stunted growth are very common.
For adult males, their penis reduces in the level of growth especially when one uses high doses of steroids. To women too, they are not left out in this issue, they experience an increased development of androgen-sensitive hair around the pubic parts, chest, beards and the limb hair. This becomes very irritating since it whiles away the beauty of a woman. Among other possible effects are deepened vocal cord, increased libido, and the suppression of sex hormones production.
The ratio of androgenic anabolic nature is very much significant and needs to be understood before landing to conclusions of the possible steroid effects. It is a very important element especially for clinical purposes and in the application of these several compounds. Compounds holding the highest ratio of androgenic effects as compared to anabolic effects are usually the best drugs of choice when considering a therapy involving androgen-replacement.
A good example is when a medic is treating hypogonadism especially in males. For the other compounds which hold less androgenic effects as compared to the anabolic levels, they also have a major purpose, they are used mainly in the treatment of complications like osteoporosis, anemia, and in the reversion of protein loss that may have developed as a result of trauma, surgery or any other prolonged immobilization.
The determination of this ratio involving the androgenic and the anabolic effects is performed typically in the animal studies, and this has led to a severe marketing of some common compounds claimed to be the best in the anabolic activity and holding lesser androgenic effects. This disassociation is totally different from the humans perspective where, the anabolic steroids have important androgenic effects in the human body.
The most used protocol in determining this form of ration between the androgenic and the anabolic effects is through relative weights of the respective ventral prostate and the subsequent levator ani-muscle specifically of male rats. The whole process is quite complicated and cannot be understood by mere discussions, but specialists who have passed through books and learned more on the same, have the capability to determine it. The only thing you need is to follow their guidance for you to be on the safe side.
