Remember that Mel Gibson movie, “What Women Want”? In the film, Gibson’s character developed the power to read the mind of women. They wanted everything from relationships, to clothes, to great sex – but they never mentioned anything about virilization. This is the condition that occurs when a woman’s level of the male hormone testosterone climbs to a dangerous level.
Readers should realize that both men and women possess testosterone and estrogen (the female hormone) in their body in differing levels. Men have a lot of testosterone, and very little estrogen. Women, on the other hand, possess more estrogen and not much testosterone. When you see a man with feminine features, he may have too much estrogen in his body. When you see a very “manly” or muscular woman, her T levels are likely too high.
Testosterone is a major no-no, when it comes to planning steroids for women to use. One may immediately assume that women should never use any bodybuilding drugs. The truth is that some compounds, such as Anavar or Winstrol, are very effective for helping women maintain their small amounts of muscle as they shed body fat for a fitness or figure competition. Women can use very small amounts of these oral drugs for 1 to 2 months before a bodybuilding show, and they will reap the effects in a very good way.
Cosmetically, steroids can get a woman in serious trouble. Many of the effects are permanent, and most are very undesirable. Imagine a woman with facial, back, and chest hair. Imagine clitoral enlargement and a squaring of the jaw? Imagine a voice of a man? Most damaging of all might be the fast thinning, then eventual balding that comes with steroid use. Many top female bodybuilders have poor skin as well. The combination of acne, body and facial hair, a deepened voice, and a wing to hide actual female balding spots, are not what most women sign up for when they use steroids to lean up and look more solid on the beach or on the amateur stage. Essentially, what is happening is that the woman is taking on many of the features of a man, because she possesses male hormones.
Aside from what is seen visually, a woman can suffer medically when using male hormones. The natural reproductive ability can tumble, much as it does in men. Menstrual cycles will fail, and hormone levels can be damaged forever. This ignores the standard potential risks of steroids, including hypertension and cancer.
In the end, women want to be beautiful and strong. They can be empowered to their heart’s delight. Bodybuilding certainly delivers that sort of freedom to a woman, to break out of her chains and become whoever she wants to be. However, testosterone should never play a role in that journey. The results are often permanent and they limit a woman’s possibilities and potential for the rest of her life – all for only a very short term muscle gain. Avoid testosterone at all costs, ladies!
